Reimer Heating & Air Conditioning Certified a

Green Screened Contractor

Reimer Heating & Air Conditioning receives the distinction thanks to their commitment to the environment and helping homeowners live “greener” lives.

Western New York (10/01/08) – Reimer Heating & Air Conditioning recently was granted the prestigious Green Screened contractor mark.  The Green Screened mark is bestowed upon contractors who embrace the challenge of protecting the environment by:

  • Educating people about the environmental and savings benefits of having a “green” home comfort system;
  • Offering homeowners products and services that can improve the energy efficiency of their home; and
  • Taking an active role in preserving the environment through recycling, reusing, and conserving products and supplies in the office and field.

“I’m honored that each of our technicians can now wear the Green Screened patch on their uniform.  It signifies that we understand our responsibility to the environment and to our community,” Richard Reimer, owner of Reimer Heating & Air Conditioning, said.  “The future of this planet is placed squarely upon the shoulders of society.  We’re going to take on the role as leaders in making sure Mother Nature is healthy for our children and their children.”

The population in North America has more than doubled in the last 50 years, and with it, the demand for energy has skyrocketed!  A typical household spends more than $2,000 a year on energy and contributes twice the amount of greenhouse gases to the environment as an average car.

Even though energy resources are dwindling, 30%-50% of the energy in this country still is being wasted!  So, more oil and coal is being burned every single day!  The constant burning creates additional smog, acid rain, and global warming.

All this information points to one obvious fact: Energy is more precious than ever!  Everyone has a responsibility to start using it more efficiently.  That begins by being more conscious of comfort demands and modifying homes to make it more efficient! After all, homes and other buildings account for 24% of total energy used!  And the very largest consumer of energy in every home is the home comfort system – the furnace and air conditioner.

“It’s one thing for people to recycle bottles, aluminum cans, and newspapers,” Reimer continued.  “It all helps, but to make a real difference people need to make improvements to their homes.  Furnaces and air conditioners that are eight or more years of age are gravely outdated!  They’re wasting energy at an incredible pace.”

As a Green Screened contractor, Reimer Heating & Air Conditioning has made the commitment to help people live a more environmentally conscious and responsible life.  Consequently, they offer both Home Conservation Evaluations; during an evaluation, they can show a homeowner how much energy and money they could save by installing a new, high-efficiency home comfort system.

Reimer Heating & Air Conditioning also provides EcoSharp Calibrations for current home comfort systems.  72 Degrees will clean your furnace and air conditioner, inspect its more than 50 potential problem areas, adjust any components that have fallen out of alignment, and lubricate any parts that need it.  In total, a Calibration restores the current home comfort system back to manufacturer’s specifications, reducing the system’s energy waste by as much as 17%!

“It’s a time commitment on our part, but we believe the environment and this community are worth it.  If we can show people how they can modify their home to be ‘greener,’ it will be well worth it.  Future generations will benefit from it,” Reimer said.
